"I believe that. If you want to be a happy individual in life, you need to be rooted. In your family, in your history, in your community, in your identity, in the person that you are, you really need to be strongly rooted. But you may never forget that these roots are made for you to fly. They are not made for you to hang on; we are human beings we were made to walk. We walk on the same path of our parents but we should never repeat the same footsteps. This is what is called being an Orthodox community with an eye in progress." Nehama Uzan

"The EU is writing a new chapter in the history of Humanity, showing to the world how different cultures languages and nationalities are not a reason to stand against each other in opposition.
Instead the EU is about standing side by side and working together for a shared vision. We learn to work hand in hand and listen to each other . Our diversity and our different perspectives, then, become our unique strength."

Conference on Labeling Israeli Products. The Economic Wall.
Hosted by Bastiaan BELDER and Hannu Takkula.
Hannu Takkula MEP inequality in measures taken in trade is against the rules of the World Trade Organisation which the EU is a member.
Frederic Ries MEP: This measures imposed by the commission but the European Parliament had no opinion on that. This disproportionate obsession in the EU institutions with Israel promotes hatred.
Prof. Avi Bell: This measures is unlawful according to the world trade organisation article 2. There is no labels of goods from Morocco occupied territories, or from Taiwan, nor from Northern Cyprus.
This measures will heart the pockets of 1000s of Palestinian employed by many Israeli companies. This is targeting people who are learning coexist with peaceful work. This activities have to be encouraged not the oposit.
Conference on Persecution of Christians - VP Tajani Article 17.
"Christians are the most persecuted minority in the world" we cannot undermine their suffering. No one should be persecuted because who they are.
JOIN US TO VISIT THE SYRIAN REFUGEE CAMP.
We all have been overwhelmed with the images of refugees fleeing the war of their home land, and risking their lives to reach safer ground. Today many of them are in Brussels and need our help.
It is our moral duty to react and reach out to these people in need and will do what we can to help.
In times of humanitarian crisis we must see beyond political opinion, creed or religion, and instead focus in our common humanity. We should feel for these children as we would for our children.
The EJCC invites you to take a few moments of your busy life, to bring some comfort to the refugees seating at the gates of our city. Remember that the smallest of humanitarian gesture would surely mean a lot to them.
We will depart on Thursday September 10th at 18:00, from 109 Rue Froissart, and drive to: Allée Verte 1, 1000 Brussels (near Tours & Taxis). We are expected at 18:30.
We were told that the refugees have enough food and clothes, but right now are in need of school supplies for the children. You can bring what you wish to give away yourself, or send a donation to the EJCC before Thursday, and we will get the necessary supplies on your behalf (please make sure to write “Refugees” in the communication).
Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday.
"Love the strangers, because you were once strangers". (Deuteronomy 10, 19)

So, join us for a Lunch with Andre Reinitz on Jewish Humor this Thursday 21 May 2015 at 109 Rue Froissart from 13:00 to 14:00.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers go to the families and loved ones of the victims of the terrorist attack at the Jewish Museum of Brussels
We feel that these actions are the outcome of a long period of hate speech against the Jews. This kind of attacks can and must be prevented by strong condemnation and prosecution of those who promote ideas of hatred.
We refuse to accept to live in a society in which we must hide to live in peace.
We are committed to fight for a world in which no one should live in fear of persecution just because of who they ARE. All religions, political groups and nations should respect and recognize the common Humanity that we all share.
May the souls of the victims rest in peace.
Rabbi Avi Tawil
